Mar 30
A very nice day with sun and high temp of about 44 degrees (which to us felt like 84). What a nice change. Cody, Brad, & Bob worked on cutting wood for the camp, again. We spent some time today trying to figure out what to do with all the syrup we have taken off! The natives with Dale, Ted, Adam & the Oney's gathered a surprisingly low 276 gallons. Chuck returned to supervise the firing for a bit. He has been trying to mentor Brad, but this one seems "unmentorable".Today was the first day the leaves were dry under your feet in the woods and the walking was a little easier today for sure.
Jim & Jenny and crew visited in the evening for awhile. It was nice to play catch up. The fire was started early so it burned out and we were home by 10:15pm. This is a record for the week.
The sap is amazingly clear for being this far into the season. The syrup is STILL not turning very dark. The yield has been noticably dropping off though!
Total Sap: 7342.5 gallons
Total Syrup: 180 gallons
